TSM CENTER


The TSM Center invites applications from international and local postdoctoral scholars to join our research team. Interested candidates may contact at any time; there is no specified deadline.

Qualifications:

  • Hold a doctoral degree at the time of application. (A degree outside of philosophy is permissible.)

  • Specialized knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

Analytical, continental, eastern, or scientific theories of consciousness and perception.

Philosophy of artificial intelligence or computer sciences.

Philosophy of physics.

Metaphysics (preferably metaphysics of science).

17th-20th century European metaphysics (including British metaphysics).

Additional areas upon discussion.

  • Ability to engage in standard analytic discussions of relevant philosophical topics.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct individual research.

  • Support the research projects of the center's members.

  • Assist in organizing center events.

Terms and Benefits:

  • Contract duration: 3 months to 1 year, with potential for extension.

  • Salary: Up to 75,855 NTD (approx. 2,380 USD). Tax rate will not exceed 18%.

  • Flexible and negotiable residency terms in Taiwan (including Taipei), with the option for remote work during non-semester and other negotiated periods.

  • Low cost of living in Taipei.

  • Assistance with university accommodation at a favorable rent.

  • Flight ticket provision, subject to budget availability.

Note: If your application is shortlisted, you'll receive a response within two weeks. Due to the volume of applications, those not shortlisted might not receive a response.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to submit a project proposal using a specific format and template provided. The proposal will undergo review by National Taiwan University or Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), depending on the source of funding. The review process typically takes up to 2 months.
